Ellington Continues to Shine in Latest DC Report

The Bowser Administration recently released the 2020 DC School Report Card, which includes graduation rates and several other updated measures.

Among the nine high schools that posted four-year graduation rates above 90 percent in the 2019-20 school year, Ellington ranked No. 1 (>99%)! In the five-year graduation rate, Ellington was third (97.36%), trailing only Benjamin Banneker High School and School Without Walls.

“Particularly given the unanticipated challenges presented by COVID-19, I am encouraged to see an increase in our graduation rate,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “This demonstrates the resilience of the District’s students and teachers, as well as the families and community partners who are committed to ensuring our young people have a fair shot and the resources necessary to succeed in college and career.”

Ellington also fared extremely well overall, earning a 4 STAR Rating. Only four other DCPS high schools – Banneker, McKinley Tech, Walls, and Woodrow Wilson – had at least a 4 STAR Rating.

“I’m couldn’t be prouder of the work we continue to do at Ellington despite our obstacles,” Principal Sandi M. Logan said. “We have some of the District’s best educators and most talented students, and it shows in our data year after year.”
