Dana Nearing - Registrar/Gender & Sexuality Alliance Advisor
Born and raised in Detroit, Dana has been a resident of DC since 2006 and now calls it home. Dana has 14 years of professional experience spanning data management, business development, team management & development, event management, strategic & consultative selling, total account management, client relationship management, product marketing, youth engagement, and promoting healthy and transparent team culture. He earned his Bachelors in Hospitality Management from Northern Michigan University and his MBA with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park. In addition to his corporate background, Dana is also an artist. As an actor and R&B/Pop/Soul singer, he is heavily influenced by his Motown roots and draws inspiration and energy from his family and community. In 2013, Dana found the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington and has performed with the group as a Bass, Baritone, and Tenor and featured soloist ever since, singing to inspire equality and inclusion. Dana joined the DESA family in August of 2018 as Registrar and began serving as DESA’s Gender & Sexuality Alliance Advisor during the 2019-2020 school year.
