Works of Art for the Art of Giving

When TIME magazine editors commissioned a cover for their July 6 issue on the national moment of racial awakening and reckoning – “America Must Change” – they tabbed Atlanta artist Charly Palmer. He produced a breathtaking, 40-by-30-inch acrylic painting of a little girl staring at social injustice, titled “In Her Eyes.”

That piece won’t be available at “The Art of Giving,” a Duke Ellington School of the Arts fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Overdue Recognition Art Gallery in Bowie, MD. But you can enhance your personal collection with a different fabulous piece from Palmer – a 30-by-42-inch limited edition Giclee, “The Ballot Box” (pictured).

“The Art of Giving” will be held live at Overdue Recognition, located at 15402 Emerald Way, with a simultaneous virtual experience for online participants. The show will feature artists who specialize in a variety of mediums, and pieces from several Ellington alumni and faculty members are available! Proceeds will support students’ instructional needs, particularly in the way of crucial technology that’s vital for remote instruction.
