Is Ellington Fund a nonprofit?

Yes! Ellington Fund is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization funded by donations and grants from individuals, foundations, corporations and the government. Donations to Ellington Fund are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Our federal tax number is 52-1152273. The federal tax number for Duke Ellington School of the Arts is 31-1705384.

Do DESA and Ellington Fund protect donors’ information?

Yes! We are committed to protecting our donors’ information. We will not sell, share or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by Duke Ellington School of the Arts and/or Ellington Fund, both online and offline, as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications. To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation.

Can I opt out of receiving information from DESA and Ellington Fund?

Yes! You can unsubscribe safely and securely from our email lists by clicking on the link at the bottom of each email.

Can I give through a Donor Advised Fund (DAF)?

Yes! DAFs are the fastest-growing giving method and tax-efficient way to manage charitable donations. DAFs allow donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. Clients of Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, and BNY Mellon can easily make a designation through the DAF Direct widget below.

Who do I contact for Matching Gifts or Planned Giving?

Many employers match an employee’s charitable donation to non-profit organizations. To take advantage of matching gift programs offered by your employer, please ask your human resources department or look on your company website.

Charitable gifts, current and deferred, can help ensure financial stability of Duke Ellington School of the Arts while creating a legacy for you and your family. We accept many planned giving vehicles including trusts, annuities, insurance policies and bequests. Please contact us at development@ellingtonarts.org to discuss planned giving options.

Do you participate in Amazon Smile?

Yes! When you shop on smile.amazon.com, select Ellington Fund as your charitable organization and Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchase to support our programs.

Do you accept in-kind donations?

We accept in-kind donations including: instruments, dance shoes, school and office supplies among other needed items. We also welcome in-kind donations such as catering for events, painting or other renovations for the building, furniture, design and printing, business services and similar items. Please note that the responsibility of the valuation of any in-kind donation is the responsibility of the donor, per IRS regulations. If you would like to make an in-kind donation, email us isaac.daniel@k12.dc.gov. If you need a receipt for in-kind donation, please contact development@ellingtonarts.org.
