Carnegie Mellon Pre-College Summer Program Scholarship
Thanks to a generous donation for a recent silent auction, the Show Choir Parents Group has a $2,300 gift certificate for Carnegie Mellon’s summer program in Pittsburgh. The group is offering the certificate for $900. Click here to lean more about the program, which has multiple fine arts offerings. Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program
Applications are being accepted through Feb. 29. The employment program begins June 29 and ends on Aug. 7. Click here to learn more and apply.
Second Semester Saturday Tutoring will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Feb. 8, 15 and 29, as well as March 21 and 28.
Community Service or Paid Opportunity
The DC Board of Elections is looking for students 16 and older who are interested in working the polls for the upcoming election on Nov. 3. Students will be trained and will be either paid or receive community service hours, whatever their preference. Click here for more details.
The PARCC & DC Science Window for Ellington is April 21 to May 22. ESSA requires school districts to notify parents of their rights to request information about statewide assessment participation. In this regard, schools are asked to send the Notification of Parents Right to Know to parents and families of students who will be taking the OSSE mandated assessments (PARCC, Science, MSAA, DLM, and ACCESS and Alternate ACCESS). Plan’s Youth Leadership Academy
Determined youth advocates who are ready to create an equal world can enjoy a taste of college life in DC. They’ll spend three nights at Catholic University, July 20-23, leaning about civic engagement, international development, social justice, and more.
