Dear DCPS Community,
DC Public Schools (DCPS) is committed to partnering with students, families, and communities to ensure that all students are prepared for college, career, and life. Today, we are releasing draft regulations and policies regarding attendance, student promotion, secondary grading, and graduation for public comment.
Throughout this past winter and spring, DCPS engaged students, families, and school staff through more than 20 public engagement events and online surveys. The proposed changes, which will go into effect in School Year 2018-2019, were created to ensure all students have equitable access to an excellent education.
You have a unique perspective on how we as a district can best support students on their path to graduation, and we hope that you take a few moments to share your expertise. Please submit feedback on our proposed regulations and policies through this draft policy survey and this draft regulation survey. DCPS will also hold two community forums to receive public input on July 19, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Locations will be announced prior to the event. DCPS is committed to ensuring that all students have equitable access to an excellent education. Our new policies and regulations will bring us one step closer to meeting our goals and ensuring that every student feels loved, challenged, and prepared to positively influence society and thrive in life.
