Dear Ellington Parent/Guardian(s):
Welcome to School Year (SY) 2016-2017! This year, the District of Columbia Public School (DCPS) system is launching a new digital gradebook called ASPEN, which will replace Engrade Pro. The goal of the DC Public Schools digital gradebook is to create an open portal of communication between teachers and families to more easily work as a team in supporting each student’s learning. Unlike Engrade Pro, in the ASPEN digital gradebook students and families share one account. The first person to log on to this family account will be prompted to set the new password and enter the email address that will be used to login to the account. This email address will also be used to send new login credentials if the “I forgot my password” link on the login screen is selected, so it is important that the appropriate family members and/or stakeholders invested in your students success have access to the ASPEN family account login credentials (i.e. username and password) entered when the new account password is created. To access the ASPEN gradebook login screen, enter the following URL into your preferred web browser (Mozilla Firefox is recommended): https://aspen.dcps.dc.gov/aspen/logon.do
Students will be given login information and temporary passwords by their English teachers during the first and/or second week of school. When logging on to the ASPEN family account for the first time, students MUST write down or take a cell phone photograph of their username and temporary password, so that this information can be shared with the family member(s) responsible for monitoring a given students’ academic progress.
Thank you for making a proactive commitment to supporting your student and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Should you have any questions concerning the ASPEN digital gradebook, please feel free to contact the appropriate administrator listed below.
