Black Girl Magic heads to Ellington while rocking the Kennedy Center

The 2020 Black Girls Rock! Festival is being held at the Kennedy Center from March 5-8, four days jam packed with programming centered around Black women.

But on Thursday, the festival comes to Ellington School for a private event featuring alum and celebrated singer Mumu Fresh.

“The Kennedy Center has had a longstanding relationship with Duke Ellington and given the goals of BGR!Fest and our Education team, this collaboration was a natural fit,” said Simone Eccleston director of the Kennedy Center’s Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music program.

“With Mumu Fresh as an alumnus and all of the other incredible participants being invested in nurturing our young people, the collaboration with Duke Ellington is about creating a moment for talented young people, essentially the artists of the future, to have intimate access and engagement with artists who have walked the path that they aspire to.”
