The Ellington Fund
The Ellington Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1978 to serve as the charitable arm of the Duke Ellington School of the Arts (DESA). The Ellington Fund administers and supports several programs and activities at DESA that are not funded by the DC Public School System (DCPS).
Our function is to support the school through comprehensive fundraising efforts, including individual gifts, direct mail appeals, corporate, government and foundation grants, and special events including the annual Performance Series of Legends and our 2016 Gala – Evening at Duke’s Place.
The Ellington Fund has raised millions of dollars to augment the school’s budget, providing critical opportunities and service for students and faculty. With funding from DCPS on a steady decline, our challenge to accommodate our rigorous dual curriculum becomes harder. Philanthropy is essential to the success of our students and fulfilling our mission.
