The Science Department focuses on the integration of arts and academics through the development of scientific and technological literacy. Students progress toward literacy by following a curriculum based on national science content standards and benchmarks. The curriculum encourages students to develop and utilize critical thinking skills. Required and elective science courses help students learn how to apply laboratory techniques and mathematical, problem solving, and process skills. Students are required to complete an individual  or group experimental project on a science topic of interest.

Science faculty work with other members of the arts and academic faculties in interdisciplinary teams, helping to engage students in their art forms and ensure that each student maximizes his or her potential.
